CARL McGRADY BIO/RESUME

A lifelong student, appreciator and collector of the arts. Studied at The School of the Art Institute This was combined with the strong influence of the Modern Japanese Woodblock Masters. When in Japan, was mentored by the schools of Unichi Hiratsu and Shiko Munakata, Japan’s masters of modern black and white woodblock prints.

BLACK & WHITE IMPRESSIONS - black and white oils with strong textures and patterns are influenced from the early Modern Japanese Woodblock Masters. The bold strokes are as those of the Sumie Artists in Japan and China. These techniques are fused into western style modern oils that give depth and texture.” Ironically the black and white paintings all have a color undertone.
